Storage guide

How much storage space do I need?

Start with what is actually moving into storage, not the size of your home. A lightly furnished three-bedroom house may occupy less space than a stock-heavy one-bedroom business unit. A simple inventory is more reliable than guessing.

✓List large items first
✓Count boxes by size
✓Allow room for access
✓Ask before booking

Make a quick inventory

List beds, wardrobes, sofas, appliances and other large pieces first. Then count small, medium and large boxes. Note anything that cannot be stacked or dismantled.

Photographs of each room can help the storage team understand the volume when you request a quote.

Decide whether you need a walkway

If everything will remain untouched until collection, the unit can be packed densely. If you need regular access, leave a central aisle and keep frequently used items near the door; this requires more space.

Check the estimate with a person

Describe the inventory to Rapid SelfStore before committing. First-hand advice can prevent paying for unnecessary room or discovering on moving day that the unit is too tight.
